Leaders

Blair Quinius graduated with a B.A. from Southwestern University in 2005. He gained experience planning and developing children’s programs as a ski instructor in Whistler and as an intern with UrbanPromise Vancouver. He put that knowledge into practice when he directed summer camps with UP Vancouver in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, Blair taught fifth grade at Mayatan Bilingual School in Copán Ruinas. During that year he began building relationships and exploring the possibilities for the UrbanPromise model in Honduras.

Matt Wall has an ambition to see underprivileged children and youth reach their full potential. In 2005, he graduated from Columbia Bible College with a B.A. in Biblical Studies. During his studies he also worked on the pastoral leadership team of Eben-ezer Church in Abbotsford, BC. Within the last two years Matt has worked with UrbanPromise in both Camden and Vancouver, in after school programs and summer camps. In the summer of 2008, Matt helped develop and run a children’s summer program with the Aboriginal Friendship Society in Vancouver.

Rachel Nelson has a love and concern for the people of Latin America. After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2004 she moved to several different countries with the purpose of experiencing, connecting, and understanding diverse cultures. In 2006 Rachel moved to Quito, Equador where she lived for over two years, teaching at the University Escuela Politecnica Nacional.
It was by living and experiencing the culture and daily life of Latin America that Rachel developed a strong desire to address the needs she saw and help the people she has come to love so deeply.
