Meet the UPI Team
Dr. Bruce Main, President of UrbanPromise ministries in Camden, NJ has been the visionary creator and motivator for this organization for over 20 years. Known and respected for his ability to build programs that equip children and youth to succeed amidst the challenges present in the city of Camden, Bruce is paving the way for the UrbanPromise model to reach more children and youth in some of the most under-resourced communities around the world.
Lindsey Markelz, M.S.W., is the Director of UrbanPromise International. With a Masters in Social Work, experience as a director of children and youth programs, and after returning from the Peace Corps, Lindsey is uniquely equipped for leadership in UPI. During her Peace Corps service in the Republic of Kiribati, Lindsey worked with leaders in the NGO unit of the government, building their capacity to strengthen the work of Non-Governmental Organizations in the country.
Maggie Madimbo, M.A.E., is a Lecturer for the African Bible College in Lilongwe, Malawi. She is currently a PhD student at Eastern University and Board Member for Urban Promise International. While in Malawi, Maggie was instrumental in developing the partnership between UPI and the African Bible College. She has over 20 years of experience as a lecturer and public speaker. She is passionate about the development and growth of young leaders.
Kelly Malefyt, International Sponsorship Coordinator. Kelly graduated with a B.A. in Communications, Public Relations and Advertising, and Business. Kelly has worked with and volunteered for a number of internationally based organizations, and she spent 9 months serving as a volunteer for UrbanPromise International in the countries of Honduras and Malawi. During her time abroad with UPI, Kelly created a sponsorship program to help build a sustainable funding source for the UPI ministries, to assist in supporting their current programs, and to provide resources to grow and reach more children and youth in their communities.
Lisi Klus, Development Assistant, graduated from Vassar College with a B.A. in English and comes to UrbanPromise International having worked several years for a youth development organization in Monmouth County, NJ. Lisi processes donations, prepares acknowledgments and reports, and provides communications support.
Cindi Schneider, Financial Manager, graduated from William and Mary with a B.A. in Economics and from St. Joseph’s University with a MBA. Cindi maintains the books and assists new ministries with understanding their financial position throughout the year.
