AfterSchool & Summer Camps
In order to holistically address the needs of 50 children and youth in Malawi, RiseMalawi includes the following components in the AfterSchool program and summer camps:
Tutoring
- To help children improve their academic performance
- To give children a chance to learn in small groups
- To provide slow learners with one-on-one assistance.
Sports & Recreation
- To provide social connections and support for youth to reach their potential
- To offer opportunities for positive inter-group contact within the program and the entire community
- To enhance the quality of community life.
Discipleship & Evangelism
- To provide an environment that will challenge our participants to seek a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ
- To provide discipleship that will enhance spiritual growth in the lives of children and youth.
Food Program
- To provide at least one balanced meal per day to 50 kids and 10 CampLeaders in order to boost their health standard
- To increase the number of eating times per day for each child in order to improve their class participation
- To decrease the number of children who drop out of school because of hunger.
CampLeaders, Job Training & Leadership Development
Five high school youth are employed as camp leaders, providing the opportunity for RiseMalawi to mentor teens in developing professional and leadership skills. The major goals of the camp leader program are:
- To enhance the social, spiritual, educational, and occupational development of teens
- To providing positive job and leadership opportunities for the youth in our community
- To help youth prepare for college, excel academically, explore vocational choices, and build a healthy sense of self worth.
Counseling Programs
HIV/Aids counseling, orphan counseling, and general counseling address some of the most desperate and pressing needs of children and youth. Our goals are:
- To provide accurate and updated basic information about HIV/Aids
- To encourage youths to go for voluntary HIV/Aids testing and counseling
- To challenge youth to abstain from sex and other risky behaviors
- To provide moral and spiritual support to children and youth
- To equip at-risk youth with life skills that will help them succeed in their day-to-day lives.
