UrbanPromise Camden Programs
Summer Camps & AfterSchool Programs: Working in partnership with local churches, UrbanPromise sponsors numerous city-wide summer camps and AfterSchool programs that offer tutorial assistance, recreation, mentoring, faith development, music, and safety.
StreetLeaders: Believing that the best way to teach leadership is by allowing teens to lead, UrbanPromise hires close to 100 teenagers each year and trains these young people to be coaches, tutors, mentors, and role models for younger children in the community. StreetLeaders are employed in UrbanPromise AfterSchool Programs and day camps.
CamdenForward School: A dynamic private school offering a quality Christian education at reduced tuition. High academic standards, low student-to-teacher ratios, and creative elective classes like art and music are producing incredible results.
UrbanPromise Academy: An alternative high school reaching teens who are not achieving their academic potential. A small, family-like learning community allows young people to recover their educational confidence, get back on grade level, and prepare for college. Ninety-five percent of our graduates are in college.
UrbanTrekkers: An expeditionary learning program that takes Camden teens on trips that involve environmental, historical, and cross-cultural experiences.
Internships: UrbanPromise recruits college graduates from around the world to serve as summer and year-round interns. Interns engage in practical ministry experience, but also reflect on issues of poverty, race, and faith.
Workgroups: Church and college groups visit UrbanPromise throughout the year engaging in service projects, assisting with programs, and helping with special events.
