UrbanPromise International Fellowships

The mission of UrbanPromise International (UPI) is to prepare emerging leaders to initiate, develop, and sustain Christian-based youth development organizations and to seed their new ministries as they serve vulnerable children and teens in our world’s most under-resourced communities. Fellowships with UPI are designed to prepare leaders to initiate ministries that use the holistic Christ-centered youth development model of UrbanPromise.

In order to qualify for a fellowship, applicants must be college graduates who have demonstrated entrepreneurial qualities and have a desire to lead children and youth ministries. Whenever possible, incoming students will spend 1-2 months interning with an UrbanPromise affiliate ministry in their own country. When this type of in-country internship is available the total commitment will be 14 months include 2 months in-country and 12 months in the U.S. All UPI fellows will spend 12 months intern with UrbanPromise in the U.S.

There are two major components to a fellowship with UPI; (1) internship with UrbanPromise in Camden, New Jersey or Wilmington, Delaware and (2) and participation in The UrbanPromise School of Entrepreneurial Leadership (UPSEL). Internships have been a core part of the work of UrbanPromise for many years. Interns from the U.S. and abroad come and serve the children and youth of Camden, NJ, which is one of the poorest cities in the U.S. Leadership training coincides with internships and also includes classes and other leadership development activities.
