My name is Chimwemwe.
I live in a village where most of the houses are grass-thatched with a mud floor. My house has an iron roof with a cement floor and wooden windows. Our market is a 30 minutes walk away from my house. It has many kinds of goods such as sweet potatoes, cassava, and vegetables. Most people grow corn which is our staple food. In my village, many boys and girls drop out of school because of lack of basic needs like food, school supplies, school uniform. Girls get married early and become teen mothers. Boys work on farms for long hours. I live with my Mum, Dad, 3 Brothers and 3 Sisters.
I wake up at 5:00 am, sweep around my house, clean dishes, bathe and go to school. At 6:00, I go to Rise Malawi Secondary School. I start classes at 7:30 am and finish at 3:20 pm. When I get home, I draw water, study, and make dinner. I go to bed at around 8:00 pm. I sleep on a mat.
I pray that God will continue to bless Rise Malawi so that I can continue attending school. I also pray for good health for my family.
