My name is Thandi. I am the third born in a family of 9 children. Most of them dropped out of school, because of lack of resources. I stay with my grandparents because my mother and father divorced. My mother is very poor and she cannot manage to provide even the basic needs for us. My grandfather is the one who does everything for us. When I grow up I want to be a judge, because there is a relative of ours that is a judge and I want to be like him.
I live in a small village. There are a lot of houses. There are also a lot of trees and farm yards. A few people have houses that have iron sheets the rest of us have grass thatched houses. There are many uneducated people in our village.
I wake up around 4am to go and fetch water, after that I do the house hold chores. Then I bath and leave for school. If there is food for breakfast I eat before starting off. Mostly I don’t carry a lunch box because there is no food at home. I arrive at school late most of the times, because my village is very far from school. In school I stay for about 9 hours. After knocking off, I remain behind because I get punished for coming late most of the times. If am not on the list of late comers, I go straight to my village, because it is very far from school. I usually get home very late, but I have to go gather firewood in the nearby bush, after that I go to fetch water. I don’t even study at night I go straight to bed most of the times because am always tired from walking and working. If there is food for dinner I eat before going to bed.
I would like prayers that God should help me to complete my education and help my family and community. I also want a prayers that I should find a sponsor. I also want God to help me have a bicycle so that I should not be late for school every day. I also want prayers that I should find the basic needs in life; food, clothes and books and a torch because we don’t have electricity at home.
