My name is Enelesi. When I grow up, I want to be a Doctor, because I want to help people when they are sick.
I live in a village with a lot of houses - a few of which are iron roofed, and the rest grass thatched. We also have many seasonal fruit trees, two people keep cattle, and there is a village club that helps selected women raise goats. Our village is also close to a game reserve where most people get firewood from the forest and sometimes illegally kill some of the animals for food. I live with Aunt Vanessa, and 5 other girls in what we call the Voices Awake home.
Before I joined Voices Awake, I would wake up at around 3 to 4am and go and farm in our one-acre garden, fetch water at around 6am, bathe and go to school. There would be no breakfast, but one reserved meal for later in the afternoon. Since Voices Awake, I wake up at 5, I sweep around our house, heat water for my bath, I then have breakfast and pack my recess and lunch food for school, then go to school. My day has changed completely before and after Voices Awake as you can see because then I wouldn’t eat before school and miss the other meals, while now there is food available, I only sweep as a chore, water is available always and I go to a better school with dedicated teachers than before.
Pray for provision of a goat or pig for my family and I, and for a bicycle to go to school and church. For God's protection, and for my dreams to come true so I can impact my family and community.
