Youth Promise Kenya

Our first UrbanPromise site in Kenya located in Embu near Mt Kenya and is led by James Mureithi, a graduate of the UrbanPromise School of Leadership. YouthPromise Kenya is using the UrbanPromise model of afterschool programs and summer camps with a focus on digital literacy to serve the children and youth of Embu. They have been at the forefront to influence computer learning within our ministries and in Kenyan schools and providing mentoring through Christian Faith and personal development of the young generation. They are about to launch a women empowerment program soon - Girls Raising Hands.

Our Programs

Teen Tech Clubs

Serving 200 Teenagers 
annually since 2017

YouthPromise Centre (YPC) has partnered with area schools, both primary and secondary, to create Teen Tech Clubs (TTCs). The clubs have been developed to engage and equip underserved and vulnerable school-going pupils and students who are interested in digital literacy and technology.

 

The teenagers enjoy benefits such as learning computers, participating in experiential learning tours, mentorship, and sponsorship among others.

Digital Literacy

Serving 300 High School Graduates 
annually since 2017
Over 1000 high school graduates have been enrolled in the program for the last 5 years. YouthPromise Centre offers a three-level digital Literacy training, each being delivered with a practical approach to ensure the teens get hands-on skills to integrate computers into their day-to-day life.
  • Level 1 Introduction to computers, Keyboarding skills, Windows operating system, Internet and email, Word processors
  • Level 2 Spreadsheets, Presentation programs, Database management systems, Desktop Publishers
  • Level 3 Coming soon and some aspects have been started already for graphic design and new levels of programming and web design will be introduced.
We have in the recent past partnered with Google to impact the teenagers with digital marketing and transcriptions skills through Ajira Digital by ministry of Information Technology by the Kenyan Government.  

Feeding Program

Serving 50 Low Income kids Families 
annually since 2017
  • Offer meals on-site for all beneficiaries.
  • Support the beneficiaries’ families by providing groceries monthly.
  • Providing meals during covid was a great deal.

Mentorship and Life Skills Training

Serving 100 Teenagers 
annually since 2017

LIFE SKILLS TRAINING

​In life skills, we look at the psycho-social abilities that an individual has to adapt to so as to be able to live day-to-day life or to be able to survive in life. The teens and young adults are encouraged to live a life free from drugs and any form of deviance behavior. We work with some kids from the slum of Embu, and we encourage them to focus on education and influence them to be change agents for their neighborhood.

​ENTREPRENEURSHIP & LEADERSHIP TRAINING

This program gives young people an opportunity to know who they are and identify the talents lying within them. They assess the various leadership models demonstrated in society and they get to propose possible alternatives to failed leadership. The emphasis is to see them as self-leaders who can manage their lives better and be more problem solvers in the society. ​

BIBLE CLASSES PROGRAM

​Our Vision is to impact the young generation with technology and the word of truth. We engage our teens in Bible Study so that they are able to get a better understanding of God and His plans for their lives. The desire is to see them live a Christ centred life and able to transform their communities.

Holiday Camp Programs

Serving 100  
annually since 2017

Holiday camp program when schools close in April, August, and December. Students earn digital skills, life skills, entrepreneurship, discipleship, and leadership.

We incorporate feeding aspect through snacks and retreats for the children being sponsored.

Girls Empowerment Program

Serving 100 Teen Girls 
annually since 2017
At YouthPromise Centre, we believe that each young lady has been made in the image of God and deserves to grow up to fulfill their God-given potential. Our Girls Care Program, with a holistic approach, addresses the feminine, educational, and spiritual needs of the young ladies who attend.   In 2024 Girls' Raising Hands will launch. When you sponsor a child or youth through UrbanPromise International, you change a child’s life forever! With your support, our ministries are able to reach the children and youth in their communities through holistic programs. Children and youth have the opportunity to grow spiritually, socially, academically, and physically. Our ministries act as family for these children and youth, many of whom are coming from lifestyles of extreme poverty, broken homes, abuse, and circumstances that hold them back from their God-given potential.

When you sponsor a child or youth with UrbanPromise International, you become a part of their extended family around the world. Helping them break free from the chains of their circumstances, and giving them the opportunity to hope for a brighter future.
